- The establishment of the Pulau Mare Marine Conservation Area, formalized through Ministerial Decree No. 66/KEPMEN‑KP/2020, provides strong protection for vibrant coral reefs, seagrass beds, mangrove forests, and iconic species such as blacktip reef sharks and dolphins.
- This commitment to marine protection was further strengthened with the enactment of Ministerial Decree No. 34/2025, which designates additional conservation zones in the province—expanding protected habitats and reinforcing long‑term ecosystem resilience. As a result, across Ternate, Tidore, and the coasts of Halmahera, several ongoing initiatives from coral restoration and mangrove planting to community‑based seagrass monitoring becomes a hands‑on conservation movement.
